Editing is the responsibility of your publisher. Ditto publicity.<BR/><BR/>Which isn't to say that you can't do some low-cost publicity of your own, such as the blog/web site approach you mention. Also, most local bookstores will be happy to arrange a book-signing event.<BR/><BR/>I seem to recall one of Diana Peterfreund's posts about fee-charging agents in which she said that one should avoid any author-related services that ask for money up front.
